Nimmo historic coming around

In a game that will be etched in New York Mets history, outfielder Brandon Nimmo delivered a career defining performance on Monday, April 28, 2025, at Nationals Park. Nimmo tied the franchise record with nine RBIs and smashed two home runs including a grand slam which watching on the plane made me scream for joy. As the Mets to a dominant 19-5 victory over the Washington Nationals. The outburst turnaround for Nimmo, was impeccable in a prolonged slump .

With the Mets leading 3-0 in the sixth, Nimmo stepped in against Nationals reliever Colin Poche and crushed a 2-0 fastball 410 feet to right-center for a three-run homer, his first since April 12. The blast extended New York’s lead to 6-0 and snapped an 0-for-12 skid with runners in scoring position for Nimmo .

An inning later, Nimmo faced rookie Cole Henry with the bases loaded and launched a 406-foot grand slam to right-center, his second career slam. The hit ballooned the Mets’ lead to 11-0 and showcased Nimmo’s ability to capitalize on high-leverage situations .

Not done yet, Nimmo added a two-run double off reliever Eduardo Salazar in the eighth inning, tying Carlos Delgado’s franchise record for RBIs in a single game set in 2008. His final line: **4-for-6, 4 runs, 2 HR, 9 RBI a performance that single-handedly accounted for nearly half of the Mets’ 19 runs . Did you believe he actually Tied Delgado for most RBIs in a Mets game. Became the third player since 1920 with nine RBIs in a three-inning span .

The Mets’ 21-hit barrage included homers from Jeff McNeil and Mark Vientos, but Nimmo’s performance overshadowed all. His nine RBIs accounted for the second-most in a single MLB game since 2000 . New York improved to an MLB-best 20-9, cementing their status as NL East contenders. The win also secured a split of the four-game series in Washington . Despite early-season struggles (a .149 average in his previous 12 games), Nimmo’s underlying metrics hinted at a turnaround. Just analyzing like i always do on his percentage 56.5% hard-hit rate (94th percentile) and 2.3 mph average exit velocity like i said many times before suggested bad luck was a factor .

What I've loved coming from our Manger Carlos Mendoza “When a guy like Brandon gets hot, he can carry a team. Tonight was special he put us on his back” . This drew the night coming from a manger who can really make a player shine. In Brandon Nimmo: “I’ve been grinding, trying to simplify things. This is why you keep working for nights like this” .

Nimmo’s resurgence couldn’t have come at a better time for the Mets, who open a three-game series against Arizona on Tuesday. If this performance ignites a sustained hot streak, New York’s lineup already featuring Pete Alonso and Francisco Lindor could become even more formidable .

Overall outcome: Brandon Nimmo’s historic night at Nationals Park wasn’t just a personal triumph it was a reminder of his elite potential. For the Mets, it’s a catalyst as they push toward October.
