”OH MAN, WHAT A GAME!”
Let me tell ya, last night’s Mets-Cards matchup was WILD. Our boys came back from an early hole and absolutely bodied the Cardinals 9-3 in St. Louis. You could feel the vibes shift after Big Pete did Big Pete things. Let’s break it down!
The Drama Unfolds:
Cards jumped ahead early: Ugh, classic. First inning, Masyn Winn pokes an infield single to score Nootbaar. Then in the 3rd, Alvarez airmailed a throw to first (yikes), and Contreras slapped an RBI single. Suddenly, we’re down 3-0. Not ideal.
BUT THEN… ALONSO HAPPENED. Top of the 5th, bases juiced? Nah. Just Pete casually launching a 417-foot NUKE to left-center off Sonny Gray. Two-run shot, Mets up 4-3. Cue the “Polar Bear” chants. That homer? Game. Changer. Cardinals fans went SILENT.
Nimmo said “Let’s add insurance!” Dude crushed a solo bomb in the 7th (407 feet, no big deal), and Alvarez redeemed himself with a clutch RBI single. By the 9th, Acuña Jr. floated a sac fly to make it 9-3. Mercy.
Heroes & Zeroes:
Mets MVP: Pete Alonso, obviously. That homer flipped the script. Shoutout to Nimmo for looking like a leadoff god (2-4, homer, 2 runs) and Alvarez for shaking off that error and raking.
Cardinals’ Bright Spot: Contreras tried (2-4, RBI), but their bullpen MELTED. Five runs in three innings? Yeesh. Sonny Gray’s ERA took a beating too.
The Vibes:
Our bullpen? LIGHTS. OUT. After the 3rd inning, they let up nothing. Three hits, zero runs. Clay Holmes snagged the W, and the Cards looked helpless.
Mets are ROLLING: 22-11 now, tops in the NL East! Meanwhile, the Cards… yikes. 14-19 and stuck in 4th. Their subreddit must be a war zone today.

PS—If you missed it, go watch Alonso’s homer on repeat. Pure art.
