I understand that the Mets and Brewers game at Citi Field was unfortunately rained out and has been rescheduled as a doubleheader on Todat with games scheduled for 12:30 p.m. and 7:10 p.m. ET.
Holmes is trying to keep up his good work from June (2.93 ERA in 5 starts). The Mets haven't picked a Game 2 starter yet, waiting to see how Holmes does, but Tidwell (0-1, 10.13 ERA) is probably going to pitch. Misiorowski, the Brewers' best rookie, is bringing some serious speed and a great ERA into Game 2. Therefore, today's matchups are going to be tough for the amazin Mets.
Let's looks back at what happen in June and. Then we can move forward in July. The Mets were 3-13 since June 12, the worst in baseball, thanks to injuries like Senga's hamstring and a terrible offense. We Got swept by Pittsburgh (30-4 total score) led to a team meeting, but things are still shaky. They went from leading the NL East by 5.5 games on June 12 to 2 games behind the Phillies, barely holding onto a Wild Card spot.
Now lets look at Milwaukee Brewers what they have been brewing so far. The team has a record of -2 in the last 10 games, and is currently trailing the Cubs by 2 games in the NL Central. We are awaiting the return of ace pitcher Brandon Woodruff (following shoulder surgery) for the Miami series.
This doubleheader is a big deal: The Mets really need to stop their losing streak against the Brewers, who are on fire with their amazing pitchers. Holmes is starting Game 1, and Tidwell (or someone else) is up against Misiorowski's fastball in Game 2, so New York's bench will be put to the test. The rain messed up the schedule, however we are going to be at the stadium today for some mets baseball. Hope to see all the fans too.
