The Mets totally crushed their seven-game slump, beating the Phillies 11-4 at Citizens Bank Park on Saturday night with some **serious home runs**. That win put the Mets (46-31) in a tie with the Phillies (46-31) for first place in the NL East.
Regarding the game, the Mets achieved a remarkable feat, hitting seven solo home runs, which equaled a Major League record for the most solo home runs in a single game. The offensive display commenced with Brandon Nimmo's home run in the first inning and reached its peak in the third inning, with Francisco Lindor, Nimmo, and Juan Soto hitting three consecutive home runs against Phillies pitcher Mick Abel (2-1). This was the first instance since October 2022 that the Mets had homered in three consecutive at-bats.
Furthermore, Juan Soto was a standout performer, going 4-for-5 with two home runs and four RBIs, including a significant 437-foot home run. Nimmo also contributed with two home runs (his 14th and 15th of the season), while Lindor added three RBIs, extending the Mets’ streak to 28 consecutive wins when he homers, just one short of the MLB record.
Phillies started strong, but the bullpen faltered! Mets rallied for the win with a barrage of homers. Final score: Mets 11, Phillies 4.
